What type of equipment is tested and tagged?
Testing and tagging applies to devices with a flexible cable, removable plug, and voltage over 50V, such as extension leads, cord sets, and portable RCDs (Residual Current Devices). Appliances are categorised as: Class I: Earthed appliances like kettles, irons, and toasters. These have an earth wire for added safety. Class II: Double-insulated appliances, marked with a symbol (a square within a square) or the words "Double Insulated," like most electric drills and hair dryers. These rely on additional insulation instead of an earth wire. Testing frequency follows Australian Standards, based on the environment and risk level.01
